10 mistakes to avoid when deploying digital signage networks

Deploying a signage network may sound easy, but the range of hardware and never-ending list of software vendors can be difficult for first-timers to fully digest in a short amount of time.

No automatic updates

If digital signage software doesn't update automatically, it can be a little bit disruptive. Not just software, but make sure the media box has a mechanism to provide access to software vendors for automatic updates. Assuming you have to manually update software across 100 monitors in multiple locations, this would be a nightmare without automatic updates.

Opt for a cheaper Android media box

In some cases, being cheaper can mean higher costs down the road. Always, check with the software vendor for the hardware you are buying and vice versa.

Consider scalability

Not all signage platforms offer scalable solutions. It's easy to manage a few monitors with any CMS, but few smart processes can efficiently manage content across 1,000 monitors. Not choosing the right signage software can take a lot of time and effort.

Build and Forget Networks

Content is the most important. Regularly updating attractive creatives is critical to a successful ROI for a signage network. It's better to choose a Signage signage platform that offers free apps that update content on their own, such as social media apps, web URLs, RSS feeds, streaming, TV, etc., as the content can stay fresh even without regular updates.

Remote control monitor switch

Using the remote requires very little display to be turned on, which should be avoided if you are not going to manually turn on the display every morning or when there is a power outage. If you're buying a commercial monitor, you don't need to worry about this. Additionally, consumer displays void the hardware warranty if used for signage purposes.

First select hardware, then select software

For new installations, it is best to determine the software first and then proceed with the hardware selection, as most software vendors will guide you in selecting the appropriate hardware.

Prerequisites for the use of each device

Choosing cloud-based software will give you the flexibility to pay instead of upfront. On-premises is not essential unless you need to comply with government regulations or compliance. In any case, you prefer on-premise, try a trial version of the software thoroughly before proceeding.

Just look for a CMS instead of a healthy signage platform

Choose a signage platform instead of just a CMS. This is useful for most signage networks because the platform provides a CMS, device management and control, and content creation.

Choose a media box without RTC

If proof of proof must be used to run a digital signage business, choose hardware with an RTC (Real Time Clock). This will ensure that POP reports are generated even when offline, as the media box can also provide time without internet. Another added advantage of RTC is that plans will also run offline.

With all features but ignoring stability

In the end, the stability of the signage network is the most important aspect, without which it doesn't matter. Hardware and more software play an important role in determining this. Check software reviews, test thoroughly and decide accordingly.
