The biggest visual difference between AMOLED and LCD screens is that AMOLED displays a wider color gamut, can present more colors, and the displayed picture will be more realistic. In addition, when displaying blue and green, the saturation of AMOLED screens is relatively high. Therefore, in the early days, AMOLED screens were often criticized for inaccurate colors and excessively brilliant colors. Compared with AMOLED screens, LCD screens usually overcompensate for red while suppressing green. Although LCD screens have a wider color gamut than AMOLED screens, they are actually closer to the standard RGB color gamut used in video and image editing.
And if some AMOLED screen mobile phones and some LCD screen mobile phones are tested in detail, some differences can also be seen. For example, although the screens are from Samsung, the color gamut range of BlackBerry Priv and Galaxy Note5 is still slightly different, and the difference from LG V10 with LCD screen is even more obvious. Therefore, in addition to the material used by itself, the manufacturer's adjustment is also very important to the screen color.
In addition to color gamut, color accuracy is also a very important evaluation index. From the test, it can be found that the color accuracy of the AMOLED screen is already very good, especially when it is really white. The white displayed on the BlackBerry Priv and Galaxy Note 5 is very close to the actual white, while the LCD screen is usually a little bluish or pan green. Of course, considering that LCD screens usually use blue-light backlights, this result is not unexpected.
In addition, due to the need to use the backlight layer, and the backlight layer cannot be completely turned off, the TFT-LCD screen has some imperfect places such as light leakage and low contrast. Since AMOLED screens are self-luminous, the brighter blue light will cause color drift as the use time increases, while TFT-LCD does not have such a problem.
TFT-LCD and AMOLED can be said to have their own advantages and disadvantages, and with the continuous optimization of TFT-LCD technology and the continuous improvement of AMOLED technology, in fact, the gap between TFT-LCD and AMOLED has been very small on some mid-to-high-end mobile phones. It is not enough to have a huge impact on daily use. However, the advantages of OLED screens in terms of power consumption, thickness and display effect are becoming more and more significant. As the technology matures and mass production, the cost will also decrease, so it is more likely to become the future of the display industry. At the same time, TFT-LCD screens may be slowly squeezed into the low-end market.
