All along, the pursuit of more perfect visual enjoyment is our goal of desktop display equipment. Looking back on the development of display technology in recent years, we can easily find that it is all around the same theme - "pursuing better visual comfort of human naked eyes"!
As a new product, liquid crystal display (LCD) has completely replaced the bulky CRT display as the mainstream display device. However, the development of LCD is not as smooth as we expected. Next, we review the hard and tortuous road of LCD development in recent years with old and new users.
The early development of LCD (1986-2001) - the early stage when the technology was immature and the cost was too high to restrain its development. LCD was mainly used in electronic watches, calculators and other fields. LCD, which we usually call LCD, is called liquid Crystal Display in English. It is translated directly into Chinese as liquid crystal display, which is called liquid crystal display for short.
Liquid crystal is an almost completely transparent substance. Its molecular alignment determines the path of light through liquid crystals. In the 1960s, it was found that charging LCD would change its molecular arrangement, and then cause the distortion or refraction of light, which led to the idea of inventing LCD devices.
The world's first liquid crystal display device appeared in the early 1970s, known as TN-LCD (twisted nematic) liquid crystal display. Despite its monochrome display, it has been extended to electronic watches, calculators and other fields.
