With the rapid development of outdoor LED displays, LED display manufacturers have also sprung up, so how do you choose an outdoor LED display product suitable for your project? This article focuses on the selection principles from the selection of the basic parameters of the outdoor LED display, the selection of constituent materials and the selection of the manufacturer.

Outdoor led display

1. Type

According to the color of the LED used, outdoor LED display screens can be divided into single-color, dual-color and full-color screens. The single-color LED display can be used as a text display, and each pixel uses a single-color LED, most of which use red; the dual-color LED display can be used as a graphic display, and each pixel is composed of red and green LED tubes. It can display in three colors of red, green and yellow; the full-color LED display can be used as a video display, each pixel is composed of red, green and blue LED tubes, and the display colors are delicate.

2. Point spacing

When choosing an outdoor LED display, the dot pitch of the display should be selected according to the distance of the audience. Outdoor LED displays are generally divided into P4, P6, P8, P10, P16 and so on according to the dot pitch. Generally, it can be estimated according to the simplified formula "best viewing distance = dot pitch/(0.3~0.8)". For example, if a P16 display screen is used and the dot pitch is 16mm, the best viewing distance is 20-54 meters.

3. Grayscale

Grayscale is an important indicator to measure the display effect of outdoor LED display screens. Grayscale is determined by the number of analog-to-digital conversion bits under the support of other supporting hardware. There are three mainstream types of 8-bit, 10-bit and 16-bit. 8-bit mode Digital conversion corresponds to 256 brightness changes, that is, 256 levels of gray, a total of 256 × 256 × 256 = 16777216 color changes, which is commonly referred to as 16M colors; 10-bit analog-to-digital conversion corresponds to 1024 brightness changes, that is, 1024 levels of gray , There are a total of 1024×1024×1024=1073741824 color changes, which is generally referred to as 1.07 billion colors. The higher the gray level, the better the display effect.

4. Drive mode

The driving method of outdoor LED display should be determined comprehensively according to the expected display effect and budget. LED display screens are generally driven by constant current, and the driving methods are divided into static scanning and dynamic scanning. In simple terms, static scanning means that one pin of the driving chip controls an LED, and dynamic scanning means that one pin of the driving chip is refreshed. Control several LEDs to light up. The static scanning display effect is relatively good, the light loss is relatively small, but the cost is relatively high; the dynamic scanning display effect is relatively poor, the light loss is relatively large, but the cost can be reduced. Common dynamic scans are 1/2 scan, 1/4 scan, 1/8 scan and 1/16 scan.
