India is aggressively attracting semiconductor factories and display makers, and has launched a $10 billion plan to increase financial incentives for companies that set up factories in India, with a view to becoming a global supplier like China.
Bloomberg reported that the Indian government statement pointed out that the government will bear half of the cost of all construction of the semiconductor factory.

As the world's second largest mobile phone manufacturer, India has also begun to attach importance to chip sovereignty, hoping to try expensive imports and become a global supplier like China. At the same time, the Indian government has also lifted the policy restrictions, that is, the 120 billion rupee scale, the 50% subsidy ceiling for the project cost of the cover panel factory, and increased the financial subsidy for the construction of the chip assembly factory, from 30% of capital expenditure to 50%.

Vedanta, a large Indian multinational conglomerate, said earlier this month that it would bring together Taiwan's leading electronics foundry, Hon Hai, to build a semiconductor factory in the ancient Tharati province of western India. The joint venture between the two companies is approximately US$19.5 billion (approximately NT$607.7 billion), of which Hon Hai contributed US$118.7 million.

The total investment in the project, which includes semiconductor manufacturing, assembly, testing, and panel production, will reach more than $19.4 billion, Vedanta said. The Indian government has previously stated that it will provide more incentives to invest in Indian semiconductor manufacturing companies from the initial $10 billion in subsidies, with a view to promoting India as a key player in the global chip supply chain.
