According to reports, despite the rapid increase in China's share of global display affairs, South Korean display manufacturers are still the undisputed leaders in future innovation.

At the recently held CES 2019, Kai Beckmann, CEO of Merck Performance Data, stated: “In fact, China has always attached great importance to the development of display technology. However, if you look at the large companies, you can find that South Korean companies are It’s no different in this respect.” He pointed out that South Korean panel makers, including Samsung Display and LG Display, are key companies in advancing next-generation display technologies, such as flexible OLED displays.

The Merck Group, headquartered in Germany, is a high-performance data and solution provider dedicated to the production of memory chips, processors, LCD and OLED technologies for smartphones and any electronic devices. The world’s leading display panel and semiconductor manufacturers, including South Korea’s Samsung, LG, and SK Hynix Semiconductor, are the primary customers of Merck’s High Performance Data Services Department.

At this CES 2019, many suppliers have launched many products using next-generation flexible display panels, including the bendable TV launched by LG Electronics.

LG Signature OLED TV R is hailed as one of the most impressive innovations in this technology exhibition. It is estimated that it will be on sale in the second half of this year. It is also the world's first commercial flexible TV.

Shenzhen Royole Technology Co., Ltd. (Royole) also demonstrated the world's first foldable smartphone with a flexible display: Royole FlexPai, which became a highlight of this technology exhibition.

Beckmann stated that although these technologies are indeed impressive, it is still too early to determine whether they will be successful after commercialization.
