Whenever a new iPhone is released, there is always a discussion about the cost of its hardware! A few days ago, relevant information announced the material value of the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max. Sure enough, the most expensive component is the OLED display.
The iPhone XS Max’s display has the highest price among all components, with a cost price of US$80.50, followed closely by the A12 processor and Intel modem, occupying a cost of US$72. The third most expensive is the $64 memory chip, followed by the camera sensor and housing components. The iPhone XS Max once again refreshed the price record of Apple's mobile phone with a top price of as high as $1449. The actual material cost behind the high price is curious.
According to TechInsights, despite the increase in the size of the OLED display, the added cost is still lower than that of the iPhone X because Apple seems to have removed some components related to 3D Touch. Al Cowsky, TechInsights’ cost analysis, told Reuters in an interview that Apple weighed the costs.
Due to the adoption of the new 7nm technology, the cost of the A12 bionic processor has also increased. For the other hardware parts of Phone XS Max, Apple abandoned Qualcomm this time and turned to Intel, resulting in slightly higher modem costs. But the most expensive of all the hardware of Phone XS Max is still its screen-OLED display.
