Industrial motherboards are the core components of industrial computers. When the motherboard fails, the operator cannot find the specific cause and dare not deal with it without authorization. Today I will summarize some common failure phenomena that can be handled by themselves. Let’s take a look at the solution.

       1. Related to industrial motherboard batteries

The hard disk cannot be found correctly when the industrial computer is turned on, the system time is incorrect after the power is turned on, and the CMOS settings cannot be saved.

Solution: first check whether the CMOS jumper of the industrial motherboard is set to clear the "CLEAR" option, if so, change the jumper to the "NORMAL" option, and then reset it. If it is not a CMOS jumper error, it is likely to be caused by damage to the industrial motherboard battery or insufficient battery voltage. Try replacing the battery.

       2. It is related to the failure of industrial motherboard capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors on industrial motherboards use electrolyte inside due to time and temperature. Due to quality and other reasons, the phenomenon of "aging" occurs, which leads to a decline in the anti-interference index of the industrial motherboard and thus affects the normal operation of the industrial computer.

Solution: Buy a capacitor with the same capacity as the "aging", and after preparing the soldering iron, solder wire, and rosin, replace the "aging" capacitor on the industrial motherboard. In addition, the loss of tools when disassembling the industrial computer may accidentally smash the capacitor, which should also be checked and ruled out.

       3. Loss, damage, or repeated installation of industrial motherboard drivers will cause the operating system to fail to boot or cause the operating system to work unstable.

Solution: Open "Control Panel-System-Device Manager" in turn to check whether there are yellow exclamation marks or question marks in the items in "System Settings". Delete all the items with yellow exclamation mark or question mark, reinstall the driver that comes with the industrial motherboard, and restart.

Fourth, poor contact or short circuit

Industrial motherboards cause poor contact between the slot and the board due to dust accumulation, so you only need to remove the dust from the slot. Oxidation of the socket pins can also cause poor contact. You can fold the hard white paper and insert it into the slot to wipe it back and forth. In addition, dust attached to the thermistor used to detect the temperature of the CPU in the CPU socket or the thermistor used to monitor the temperature in the chassis on the industrial motherboard may cause the industrial motherboard to recognize the temperature incorrectly, which will cause the problem of protective failure of the industrial motherboard. Also need to pay attention when cleaning.

       Five, downtime

The industrial computer is turned on and there is no alarm sound and it is down

Solution: Open the industrial computer case first, disconnect the other parts from the industrial motherboard except for the keyboard, memory, and CPU, and then start the test. If it can work normally, there is a problem with other components. Otherwise, re-plug the memory and CPU, and then test again. If there is still a fault, you should replace the parts one by one.

The above five points are about the common faults and treatment methods of industrial motherboards. Secondly, we should also pay attention to the faults that cannot be handled. Professionals should not disassemble and deal with the components on the motherboard without authorization. There are many, improper handling will cause more serious consequences.
