LED is the abbreviation of the full English name of Light-Emitting Diode, which is often heard of light-emitting diodes. It is a semiconductor electronic device that can emit light through trivalent and pentavalent elements. The LED display we are talking about refers to a display with light-emitting elements made of LEDs (light-emitting diodes) as the backlight.
The full name of LCD is Liquid Crystal Display. Liquid Crystal Display is literally translated as liquid crystal display. The full name of LCD is liquid crystal display in Chinese. It is a flat panel display device composed of quantitative black and white or color pixels, which is widely used in various digital display devices.
The main differences between LCD and LED are as follows:
1. Contrast
The LED LCD screen can change the light intensity extremely quickly, so the backlight brightness can be adjusted locally according to the brightness requirements of the local image, so the dark image can be darker, and the dynamic contrast ratio can be much higher than that of the LCD LCD screen. Especially for direct-lit LED backlights, the improvement in dynamic contrast is more obvious.
2 size
The use of LED LCD screen backlight can reduce the thickness, volume and weight of the TV, and the edge LED LCD screen (edge LED) can reach less than 1cm.
3. Energy consumption
The LED LCD screen backlight itself saves power compared to LCD screens in low and medium luminosity. Coupled with the dynamic dimming of the LED LCD screen according to the cut image, the LED LCD screen backlight can save up to 20%-50% of the power consumption.
4. Color gamut
The direct-lit LED LCD screen backlight with independent three-primary color LCD screen has a wider color gamut than LCD LCD screens.
5. Life
The life span of the LED LCD screen backlight is much longer than that of the LCD LCD screen.
6. Environmental protection
The LED LCD screen backlight is more environmentally friendly than the LCD LCD screen. The LED LCD screen backlight is lighter and consumes less fuel during transportation. LED LCD screens are more environmentally friendly than LCD screens when they are disposed of, because LCD screens contain trace amounts of mercury. The longer life span also reduces waste generation.
