Industrial computer is a kind of computer, which is mainly used in various industrial environments. For example, the factory's control system DCS, industrial computer is generally installed in the cabinet of these control systems, the environmental conditions of this occasion are relatively poor, mainly in temperature and humidity, electromagnetic interference, dust, vibration and so on.
There are also many types of industrial computers, such as ordinary rack-mounted, integrated (including screen, keyboard, host) and so on.
Compared to a normal computer:
First of all, the chassis is relatively bulky and has a simple dust-proof design;
Different motherboards are designed according to different needs (such as more expansion slots);
For reasons such as earthquake resistance, some storage media such as CF cards should be used instead of ordinary hard disks.
The boards of industrial computers have different applications in different industries, including those with extended interfaces (such as multi-serial cards), and those for data acquisition, etc.
The difference with PLC: The industrial computer is essentially a computer, and the operating system and software can be installed as needed. PLC should be said to be an embedded system, the operating system inside is generally not windows, linux, etc., and the user cannot see it, let alone change it. The user completes the program design and generates an executable program through the supporting programming environment (a set of software, installed on a general computer), downloads it to the PLC, and the PLC executes it directly. Because of the simple system and few running programs, the reliability and real-time performance of PLC are much better than that of industrial computer. The appearance of PLC is also completely different from that of industrial computer. For details, please refer to the products of various well-known manufacturers (GE, Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell, etc.).
