Although there has never been a victorious general in the commercial arena, if you want to look at the fledgling newcomers and surpass yourself, this is a "terrible" thing for anyone. Now, it is obvious that the great leap forward of China's OLED display panel industry has made South Korea feel threatened.
On December 8, BOE Chongqing's sixth-generation flexible OLED flexible display production line "B12" was officially started in Liangjiang New District, with a design capacity of 48,000 pieces/month, which mainly produces flexible displays such as mobile phones, vehicles and foldable notebook computers. At the same time, this is also the third OLED production line of the domestic panel manufacturer BOE. Together with BOE’s current B7 and B11 production lines, BOE’s total monthly output of OLED display panels will increase to 144,000, second only to Samsung Display. , Ranking No. 2 in the industry.
Although in a substantial sense, this is only a small step taken by BOE, this step is obviously not simple for peers and friends. You must know that BOE invested in the 6th generation flexible AMOLED flexible display production line in Mianyang, Sichuan. It will be mass-produced in 2019. As far as the current situation is concerned, although BOE still has a large gap with Samsung in terms of overall output and investment-to-output ratio, this cannot be a reason for Samsung to sit back and relax.
In this regard, people in the South Korean industry said: "Although China still lags behind South Korea in the level of OLED technology, the speed of investment has accelerated recently, and South Korea is facing severe challenges to China in the OLED industry."
It is an indisputable fact that the emerging new force of BOE is reshaping the new pattern of the global panel field, which seems to have made some famous names. However, it is a bit regretful that while BOE is stepping up its deployment in the AMOLED industry, Korean companies have also started their work in the field of Micro LED panels. From the perspective of the industry, high-end display panel manufacturers will definitely take Micro LED as their main focus in the future. Research direction.
As far as BOE is concerned, it has finally made some achievements in OLED display technology, but it has to face the Micro LED display track pioneered by Korean enterprises. This is obviously another "hunting"!
