We often ask how much power consumption is when buying electrical appliances? So on the power consumption of monochrome LCD screens, many times customers ask everywhere but get a lot of different answers. Today I take this opportunity to answer this question.
The power consumption of the LCD monochrome LCD screen is usually related to 4 factors (without considering the external components):
LCD screen size LCD screen type chip type backlight LED light number
1. LCD screen size
Because the inside of the LCD screen is actually composed of lines, and the larger the size of the LCD screen, in addition to the more content, the key is that the distance between the lines becomes longer, so the larger the size, the greater the power consumption. .
2. LCD screen type
LCD screens are also classified. Usually, customers can often hear the difference between low impedance and high impedance of LCD screens. The so-called low impedance and high impedance refer to the resistance of the internal wiring of the LCD. The lower the resistance, the natural The lower the current consumption, the lower the power consumption.
3. Chip type
The type of chip here is actually not directly related to the power consumption of the LCD screen. The chip actually looks at its load capacity, and many people who are not professional will often ignore this point, which leads to bugs and hidden dangers in the designed LCD screen!
When we design LCD screens, we must consider the compatibility of the chip and the glass. For example, the full-load drive power consumption of an LCD screen requires 100 microamperes, while the maximum support of the chip is only 80 microamperes, so the LCD produced Once the screen appears and needs to be displayed in full screen, there will be no display, missing strokes, reduced contrast, etc.-some unexpected problems.
And each chip will write its maximum supported operating current in the specification. Therefore, if you need to develop a new LCD screen, you must not ignore the problem of compatibility.

4. Backlight
In fact, if the light is considered from the power consumption, 99% of the power consumption of the LCD screen is undoubtedly consumed by the backlight.
The power consumption of the backlight is easy to calculate. It is usually calculated according to the number of LED beads in the backlight. The standard power consumption of a lamp T is 15mA, and 3 lamps are 45mA.
Before that, we also shared with you two technical articles about the display effect of LCD screens: "The difference between positive and negative LCD monochrome LCD screens" and "The difference between semi-transparent, full-transparent, and reflective LCD screens", combined The power consumption problem we have learned today is actually very easy to draw conclusions. Generally speaking, the power consumption of reflective LCD screens is the lowest, followed by semi-transmissive LCD screens, and the highest power consumption is definitely full-transparent LCD. , Because in order to ensure the display effect, the full-transparent LCD screen usually has the largest number of lights in the backlight.
