Liquid crystal screen is a basic component of liquid crystal material. Because liquid crystal is between solid and liquid, it has not only solid crystal optical properties, but also liquid flow characteristics, so it can be said to be a mesophase. To understand the photoelectric effect of liquid crystal, we must explain the physical properties of liquid crystal, including its visco-sity, elasticity and polarization.

The viscoelasticity and elasticity of liquid crystals can be described as a liquid with permutation property from the viewpoint of hydromechanics. According to the direction of action force, it should have different effects. It is like throwing a wooden stick into the flowing river. The wooden stick flows in disorder at first. After a while, the long axes of all the wooden sticks naturally change into the same direction as that of the river. This means that the flow pattern with the lowest secondary viscosity is also a physical model with the lowest free energy of flow. In addition, liquid crystals have not only viscous reactions, but also elastic reactions. They are all directional to external forces. Therefore, when light is injected into the liquid crystal material, it will inevitably move in accordance with the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules, resulting in a natural deflection image. As for the electronic structure of liquid crystal molecule, it has a strong ability of electronic conjugation movement, so when the liquid crystal molecule is affected by the external electric field, it is easy to be polarized to produce induced dipolar, which is also the source of interaction force between liquid crystal molecules. In general, the LCD used in electronic products is to use the photoelectric effect of liquid crystal, by external voltage control, and then through the refractive properties of liquid crystal molecules, and the ability to rotate light to obtain light and shade (or known as visual optics contrast), and thus achieve the purpose of imaging.
